house rules

Backrow is a chat for the moment you're in. These rules keep it good for everyone in the room.

keep it about the moment

Talk about what's happening right now: the delay, the queue, the band, the weather. Rooms are for the moment you're sharing, not for who anyone is.

no naming or describing real people

Don't name real people, and don't describe someone so that others can tell who you mean. Everyone in a room is anonymous, and it stays that way.

no hate, threats or sexual content

No hate or abuse aimed at a person or a group, no threats, and nothing sexual. Phone numbers, email addresses, links and @names aren't allowed in messages or room titles.

adults only

Backrow is for people who are 18 or over. You say so when you join. If you're under 18, please don't use it.

reporting and muting

If a message breaks these rules, report it and tell us why. When three different people in a room report the same message, it's hidden while we take a look, and we keep a copy of it so we can check what was said.

You can also mute someone. That hides their messages from you, in that room, and it's kept on your phone.

If someone keeps breaking the rules we can end a room or ban an account. A ban stays with the Apple account, not the phone.

what we keep

Your handle in each room. You get a new name and colour in every room, so no one else can tell it's the same person.

Your messages, for 30 days after a room ends, and then they're deleted. While a room is going, only the people in it can read it, and only from the moment they joined.

Never your location. Your phone uses where it is to find rooms near you and to check you're still around, but we don't store it. A room is pinned to a spot rounded to about 100 metres.

Sign in with Apple gives us an account id and nothing else: no name, no email.
